HOWDEN MATTERS was first published, every two months, as a free, 16-page 'magazine', in December, 2005. The Adam Press publishes it as a 'meeting place and shop window'.
From the beginning of 2007, a charge of £1 was introduced, in order to try and secure its future.
In January, 2008, HOWDEN MATTERS began to be published monthly, as a 24-page magazine, the cost remaining as £1.
For a trial period, from January, 2009, the magazine will be 32 pages.
HOWDEN MATTERS is always on sale at: BOBINDA'S, Chappelow's, DOVE HOUSE, End Cottage Vet's, HOWDEN PET EMPAWRIUM, Leighton's Garages, PARKIN BUTCHER'S, Post Office, ROB FEATHERSTONE'S, Shire Hall Office, TOP SHOP, Touchwood Homecare, HOOK NEWS, and, for a trial period, Goole Book Shop.
Annual subscriptions can be taken out at any time of the year, via cheque, cash or standing order. Such a subscription makes an ideal gift.
HOWDEN MATTERS is currently read by over 500 people, not only in Howden but as far south as Newquay and as far north as Durham, not to mention Australia and North America, enabling those with Howden links to keep in touch.
